Encourages the development of effective workplace health, safety and disability management programs in Alberta. Through this voluntary program, the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) works with Alberta Employment and Immigration, industry partners, safety associations, employers and labour groups to offer WCB premium incentives. Employers who reduce their claim costs below predicted targets and achieve a Certificate of Recognition (COR) can earn up to 20 per cent off their industry rate.
The Certificate of Recognition (COR) program is an initiative that recognizes employers who implement and maintain a health and safety management system that meet established provincial standards. Companies with a health and safety management system are able to identify and assess their workplace hazards and then systematically control the risks to their employees and overall operations. As a result, health and safety management systems can create a culture of proactive workplace safety.
